The story behind this song? Well, before it became Soleil Bleu Ciel - a pop song about a permanent installation in a Montreal North grade school (see the video on vimeo of the same name...), it was originally a Chanson-O-Gramme commission for a dear friend of mine whose mother was suffering from Parkinson's Disease.

She wanted a song to cheer up her amazing mum (she had a great sense of humour and playful spirit) so I wrote this disco dance anthem with the chorus "Let's go dancing with dyskinesia..." Lyrics gave shout outs her family, friends and doctors who supported her as well as the different meds and other details about the disease. She loved it!

Years later I was the artist-in-residence at Daily tous les jours and for my final "ode" I decided to create an 80's inspired music video about the installation of the piece (archival footage), workshops with students and green screen dance improv with three ultra fun gals. "For Joanne" is now also Soleil Bleu Ciel but the lyrics still echo the original intention - to entertain, celebrate, and inspire. Hope you enjoy it!
