ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE: GRAND THEATRE, KINGSTON, ON, JULY 2024

Comedy-theremin experimentation with audience participation!

July 2024

July found me at the Baby Grand exploring a variety of comedic material through theremin'ing and character building. Bernadette the Catmedian came out for her first stand-up/sit-down set - the small studio audience generous indeed. Experimenting with the theremin opened a whole can of delightful whoopass as I jammed with my past self via my high school band Wild Girl Soup's Lofi recordings. For more details of this chapter follow my @kllmuir instagram to see a full post - what I got up to, and some of the collaborators who came in to play, document and teach. A very rich 4-days! Many thanks to the team at The Grand Theatre for accommodating me - especially Jenny who also joined in for the final artist talk-presentation-happening where invitees got to send messages to the spirit realm through Thereminpost!

ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE: CAETANI CULTURAL CENTRE, VERNON, B.C., JAN-APRIL 2021

Virtual Troubadour for a Space Age Serenade, January – April 2021

January-April 2021

A curious polymath and lifelong student, Krista Muir has spent the past two decades as a composer, lyricist, multi-instrumentalist, singer, performer, digital storyteller, video-maker, workshop facilitator, audio engineer and curator of multi-disciplinary events.

While in residency at Caetani she will be writing Chanson-O-Grammes – odes to beloved friends, objects, and locations - as well as performing virtual livestream serenades with interactive songwriting activities and premiering new works. She will also collaborate with AiR resident Gambletron on multi-media livestream broadcasts and spontaneous song collaborations while in a safe C19 bubble.

You can even order your own custom Chanson-O-Gramme!

Work created while in residence (thus far!):

INAUGURAL ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE: FL!GHT GALLERY, SAN ANTONIO, MARCH 2017

FL!GHT GALLERY

March 1-31, 2017

In March 2017 I was the augural International Artist-In-Residence at FL!GHT Gallery (Justin Parr/Ed Saavaedra) located in the Blue Arts Contemporary building. What an amazing opportunity to discover the local art scene and engage with the community while creating new work.

For FLI!GHT I hosted and serenaded their 16th anniversary "Sweet Sixteen" group show opening, held a few open studio events and created new works that I presented at the end of the month at BRICK. Highlights include working with SAY Sí  instructors/youth, sitting in on a rehearsal of Rudy Tee Gonzales w. King Pelican, attending musical "That’s Not Fair ! / ¡ No Es Justo ! Emma Tenayuca’s Struggle for Justice" and getting to know a variety of creative folks from the community including filmmaker duo Mark and Angela Walley and visual artist Alex Rubio
