I met Simon (aka Pierre Crube, Numero#) in the Montréal music scene circa 2005. He loved my music and wanted to collaborate. It was rare and energizing to spend time together - he was playful but precise and we laughed as much as we recorded. This past summer we saw each other at Cabaret Folk - it had been years but we didn't skip a beat! He told me he loved the show and was inspired to play a future cabaret.
A mutual friend recently told me that Simon passed away last week. Disoriented and absolutely heartbroken, I'm holding his closest friends and family in my thoughts until we can honour him in person.
Here's a mashup photo of us delighting in a shared moment back in 2021. Simon, his mom and I met virtually during lockdown (they were in Mtl - I was in Vernon) to celebrate the release of our collaboration - "Between Atoms Quantum Mix" on Stefanos Rokos - 10 Years of Horror and Romance (United We Fly). A proud moment for us both after so many years of wanting to do something together. This one, a 12" release with us, Fiery Furnaces, Μανώλης Αγγελάκης and Παύλος Παυλίδης. How excited we were envisioning it blasting on the dance floors of Athens...Merci Simon pour partager du temps précieux avec moi et le cadeau de ton creativité, joie et beats.
