Brooklyn Show August 27th!

Krista will be performing in Brooklyn on Saturday, August 27th at West Café. You’ll have the unique opportunity to see Krista & Shane perform songs from her latest release “Between Atoms” as well as see clips from upcoming documentary “Conversation With The Cosmos” by Films Kookaburra. Visit the facebook event HERE.

Krista has also recently participated in the “Les Enfants de La Bolduc” project (August-Sep 2011). She learned some of the famous Gaspesienne singer Mary Travers’ (aka “La Bolduc”) songs including “Les Filles de Campagne” which she recorded with Montreal excentrics “Les Abdigradationnistes” and which will appear on a compilation in September 2011. Check out the preview for the web-documentary part of the project here:

Lederhosen Lucil Returns!

One of my favorite artists of all time, Temple Bates, is going to be launching her new book “Hermoddities” this coming Thursday, June 30th in Montreal at the Drawn & Quarterly Bookstore on Bernard.

She has long been a fan of my alter ego “Lederhosen Lucil” and has invited LL to perform the night of her launch. YES! Prime opportunity to iron one of the infamous hosen ensembles featured in “The Joy of Hosen” (my first publication – an eye-candy filled book of Lucil – the costumes, artwork, performances, merchandise, fan mail and so much more!.

Lederhosen Lucil hits the stage at 19h (feel free to post requests for songs on the facebook event site) and Temple’s animation/artist talk will follow.

FREE (but bring your dubloons as you may want to pick up “Hermoddities,” “The Joy of Hosen” or a vintage LL CD!)

Krista’s amazing line-up of Junebug Shows!

“Between Atoms”  was launched into the ether online and at special live performances this past month. We had an amazing micro tour with Ottawa rap legend Jesse Dangerously and now Krista is gearing up for a busy June of live shows, ukulele workshops and other tomfoolery!

Merci beaucoup to all those who came out during the rainstormy weather to see us perform in Montreal, Ottawa, Kingston and Toronto. The raffle winners got a real treat at the shows as the prizes were original music and artwork by the performing artists including micro maps by semi-fictional mapmaker Shane Watt and art/music compilation by Stefanos Rokos. (*see photos below!)

Now I’m busy getting ready for June! For dates, times and ticket prices check out the show link that highlights:

  • The return of Krista’s popular “Songwriting Machine Workshop” at KidsPop
  • Shows Krista is playing with the wunderbar ukulele’ist MEB
  • A brilliant benefit for the “Girls Action Foundation” at the Rialto Theatre (tickets are $25 and going fast!)
  • The 4th installation of the “Ukulele Bizarro” cabaret spearheaded this year by the ultra active indie content group Indyish and held at the Fringe Festival!
